Brushing with toothpaste after wisdom teeth extraction?

Hello, I%26#039;ve had my lowe wisdom teeth extracted on Thursday (2 days ago). I started to rinse gently with salt water yesterday and brushed my tongue with no toothpaste before bed also. I am only eating soft foods (plain yogurt, pudding, soup).

Is it safe to use toothpaste to brush my teeth/tongue today? How long should I wait? My breath stinks to the high heavens. I am not bleeding anymore but I still seep some fluid I think (yellow-tinged saliva with very few red streaks).

Also, I wanted to know: On one side, there is a socket but it%26#039;s not too hollow and there is red/brown/black inside it, I cannot see the bone. Does this mean that this is the clot?

Thank you for your guidance!

Yes, that is the clot... leave it there or you will have a %26quot;dry socket%26quot; which is very painful.

It should be safe to use toothpaste... just rinse really well after.
Reply:By all means brush. Just stay away from mouthwashes because the alcohol in them slows the healing. No crunchy (hard) foods on sockets. The blood clots are mother natures %26quot;band aid%26quot; over your bone. Keeps bacteria out while you heal. Will take 3 months (or more) for socket to completely fill in.
Reply:I brushed my teeth after having two of mine removed, but I just didn%26#039;t reach far back so I wouldn%26#039;t make them bleed.
