How much toothpaste should an adult use on a toothbrush?

I put a pea size on my brush, while my boyfriend fills the whole top of his brush with toothpaste. I think he uses WAY too much toothpaste on his brush (we%26#039;re already out and I just bought a tube recently).

Believe it or not, toothpaste is not the most important element when it comes to cleaning your teeth. The brush and your technique are far more important. What you are trying to accomplish is to dislodge the plaque that has formed on the surfaces of your teeth, just under your gums, and between your teeth. Check out this site for information on the best technique - http://www.simplestepsdental.com/SS/ihtS... Most people make the mistake of scrubbing too hard, which can cause your gums to erode and doesn%26#039;t get the job done. If you brush and floss your teeth correctly, you don%26#039;t really even need toothpaste. But most of us like it because it makes our breath feel fresh. So you only need a little bit to freshen your breath. Filling the whole brush with toothpaste doesn%26#039;t make your teeth any cleaner.
Reply:I think you should use a good amount, like filling the whole toothbrush, because otherwise you wont have enough toothpaste to clean your teeth.
Reply:Next to none. It%26#039;s like being told to shampoo, rinse and repeat. Suckers go whole-hog and think that it actually does some good. It helps your breath basically.

The brush does the work.
Reply:i don%26#039;t think there is a specific amount your supposed to use as long as the job gets done properly.
Reply:I think you should use his technique but not as thick that is how I do it.
Reply:According to most toothpaste tubes, a %26quot;pea-size%26quot; is what to use for small children. Adults have a larger mouth and need more to adequately cover their teeth.
Reply:toothpaste is not an expensive thing so don%26#039;t worry about it i would rather use too much than to use not enough..and the only time i use a pea size amount is when it is for my daughters tooth brush
Reply:I%26#039;d say, the size of 2 peas, but not filling the whole top of the brush
Reply:Pea sized amount is Correct.

any more is obscene amount.
Reply:3 teeth, use a pea size

Mouth full of teeth, use a nice amount.
Reply:pea size is enough but paste size dosent matter much what matters how u brush and how often u brush to remove plaque so that ur teeth r kept clean
Reply:i use a pea-sized amount. But I also use a bit more because I like the flavor! I use vanilla-mint,and citrus too ( not together,of course!) and I don%26#039;t like cinnamon. I havent tried the lemon yet,but I wanted to try the berry punch, and crest pulled it. I would use a pea-sized amount, maybe a little more. The laying- down- on- the- brush- S shape that a popular toothpaste uses is actually a waste, I think.
Reply:if ya%26#039;ll could meet in the middle that would be ablout right
Reply:pea size is for kids fill the brush but not to thick
