i have bought my 3 yr old son a spiderman toothbrush and matching toothpaste, but the toothpaste smells like bubblegum and tastes sweet,im just wondering is it ok to use as i usually use colgate but my son prefers this sweet one,do you think its safe enough to use on him?thankyou very much for your answers...x

Childrens toothpaste?
It may be safe to use, but if your concerned aboutit, then let him see the spiderman tooth paste tube, but use the other, so he son%26#039;t know!!! That way, your satisfied that your doing all that you can fort your son%26#039;s oral hygiene!!!
Reply:It%26#039;s perfectly safe to use, however, i stopped using %26quot; childrens %26quot; toothpaste as they%26#039;re usually sweet and fruit flavoured and my son used to eat it.
Reply:it is safer then adult toothpaste because of the lower fluoride, but it may be full of artificial sweeteners which carry probs of their own, best bet is to get advice from your dentist.
Reply:it is ok- but it either has added sugar (weird) or an artificial sweetener, whichever of these is not good is it! If he is 3 then I would say change him over to colgate etc as my son changed over at about this age with no problems!!! Good luck
Reply:use putzi a German tooth paste.
Reply:Yes it will be fine as it is specially formulated or childrens teeth and not adults, if you are concerned please ask your dentist and they will explain it in further detail.

Best Regards

xx
Reply:Yes it should be fine. They make it so that it will be safe for young children to use. however, if you dont feel comfortable because its to sweet. Use it once a week as like a treat to him for being a good boy!

good luck!
Reply:I%26#039;ve always used Tom%26#039;s of Maine brand toothpaste. They have a children%26#039;s toothpaste, no sugar, %26amp; no flouride. It is more expensive but it was worth to me on the long run.
Reply:It should be okay. However, it may contain more sugar than other brands so it is just up to you whether or not you want that much sugar on his teeth. Check the nutritional values on the package and compare. If they only have ingredients listed, anything that ends in %26quot;cose%26quot; is a sugar (ie. dextrose).

The only thing that is NOT safe to use for a 3 year old is a toothpaste with flouride in it. It should not be swallowed and 3 year olds tend to suck it right down! I know mine does. :)
Reply:Yes .... its designed to be suitable. U want a toothpaste with at least 1000ppm in each tube.

They do a milk teeth toothpaste which is minty but only a little bit. He will grow out of the sweet flavouring one in time, but right now its the brushing technique thats important!
Reply:just use an adult ordinary toothpaste so long as it has 1000ppm of fluride in it and use a smear of it on their brush
