Toothpaste as acne treatment?

My mom and my sister and a lot of girls at school will put toothpaste on their face to get rid of acne or stop it at first signs. I just had a baby and my face broke out, not horrible but noticeable. Does this really work? How long do you leave it on for? Do you put it all over or just on the spots where you are breaking out?

Toothpaste as acne treatment?
not so sure about toothpaste.. although it has a cool mint, but i think u should read this for acne treatment.. http://kitasihat.blogspot.com/search/lab...
Reply:i%26#039;m not sure.. i%26#039;ve heard of people doing that too!
Reply:its supposed to work...dab it on the spots before bed and go to sleep with it on
Reply:Yes, it works. Feels weird, but works. Put a dab on each spot where there is acne for overnight. In the morning, you%26#039;ll most likely see a difference!
Reply:I%26#039;d advise against that, toothpaste is for teeth, nothing else %26amp; it will most probably irritate %26amp; dry your skin out. Just get something over the counter.
Reply:I use toothpaste all the time! I put a tiny layer of it on a big pimple when I get one, and I leave it over night. Don%26#039;t put it everywhere, just a little bit on the big ones. It dries your pimples out. Good luck!
Reply:It works more or less by drying out your skin. It works pretty well. Put it on just the breakout spots before you go to bed. Wash it off in the morning.
Reply:my friend did the same thing.she puts little dabs on wherever her acne is, and she sleeps with it on. in the mo r ning she washes it off.

but u shud also use ur reguualr face wash.
Reply:toothpaste is ok to use. just dab it on the areas that the pimple is at. Wait until the toothpaste dries and then you can take it off. Not sure if it works real good. What works best is probably a facial scrub that cleans pours and gets rid of zits.
Reply:use only white toothpaste, wash your face first, put it only on the spots with an active breakout/blemish, and sleep that way, wash off in the Am, and if needed repeat for the next couple of nights

it is pretty drying, so don%26#039;t forget to use a non-oily moisturizer (with SPF) during the day

:) happy skin
Reply:I have tried it too-put it on for about the whole night. Then it can start while you are sleeping to make them smaller.

To me, it makes mine get smaller like as if I smooshed them out some un-noticable way. Just don%26#039;t use it every night, like every one night, then a wash then the next night, and so on.
Reply:i heard it works.

i tried it once.

i put a little on the spots where i needed to..

and let it dry.. left it on overnight..

took it off in the morning..

and it seemed less noticeable.

but now i%26#039;ve heard that it actually clogs your pores...so i%26#039;m not quite sure if it%26#039;s really a good idea.

proactiv works quite well, though :)
Reply:what i do is i put on a dot of toothpaste before bed on the spot w/ acne. the tooth paste drys up the oils in your skin around the acne which gets rid of it. after maybe 2-4 nights of doing this, the acne is gone. POOF!!!
Reply:no.. that was an old myth that it works.. i think it depends on if your skin is dry or oily. it may break you out even more. u wont want it to burn your face either. i say try it and if it burns wash it off. if it doesnt burn, maybe its for u. i would see a dermatologist to get a better instruction on what to do.
Reply:Its helps to dry the pimple out but it doesn%26#039;t help for acne all the way around. If you have nothing else available go for the toothpaste. However, there are other spot treatments available on the market that work a lot better. There is something called nixoderm that is very good as a spot treatment you can find it at beauty supply stores.

This is also one that is very good and celebrities swear by it. Its like magic in a bottle.

Reply:Well, I%26#039;m pretty sure that it does work because my cousins put it on and they don%26#039;t have any acne at all. Just put it on the spots before bed and then wash it off. Do not put it on your eyes! I%26#039;m not sue how long you leave it on though.
Reply:I haven%26#039;t heard of that, but it might work!
Reply:Many acne sufferers insist that toothpaste has helped reduce the size of their pimples. When you hear favorable experiences with a particular home treatment for acne, you can definitely be tempted to try it. Before you do, though, keep some tips in mind.

Do Not %26quot;Paste%26quot; Your Face

If you decide to try toothpaste as your home treatment for acne, make sure that you apply toothpaste sparingly. Use traditional toothpaste as gel toothpaste won’t be as effective. If you have back acne or acne on your shoulders, you might want to try applying toothpaste there to see how this home treatment for acne works for you. That way if you have a negative reaction you will easily be able to conceal it. Part of the reason this treatment is successful for some is because the toothpaste dehydrates the pimple.

If after trying this home treatment for acne on your back, you would like to try it on your face, dab just the smallest amount possible on one pimple. Don’t try this home treatment for acne on all your pimples until you first do a spot test on just one pimple. If you react favorably, you can then try this home treatment for acne more often. You can also experiment with different toothpaste brands such as Crest, Colgate, and Aquafresh.
Reply:It could work, but you should be careful, you could burn your skin (like leaving a mark not literally burnt :) if you leave it too long on your face. I actually tried it a few years ago, but I didnt have acne per se, my problem was more of a few isolated little pimples and it actually helped me.
Reply:Apply some toothpaste on the acne before bed, by morning it should be noticeably better. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/ for more useful info.
Reply:yes it helps dry it help - but tea tree oil is even better for that and if you really want a pi mple to magically dissapear in less than a day - use cold sore cream on it. it will be red, but it will go so quick.
Reply:Oh don%26#039;t do it. It works BUT it burnt my face. litterally burnt the skin off. It hurt so bad it was worse then a sunburn. Don%26#039;t do it. I warn you. If you use it only do it once......
Reply:I%26#039;ve heard the same, never tried it though. I have some friends that have and they said it works. They just dab a little on the spots before they go to sleep. I dont break out very much, but the times i do i%26#039;ve been tempted to try it... it just sounds kinda icky to me. Good Luck!!!
Reply:Dap a little on the particular spot right before you go to bed! It really does help!
Reply:You leave it on the day and rinse it. It dries up the pimple, not much of a treatment.
