Sensitive toothpaste.?

Ive been using some sensitive toothpaste for a while now and it says do not use for longer than 4 weeks. I have been and now my tooth (only one) is really starting to hurt when something cold touches it. Could the toothpaste be making it sensitive or is it a cavity? I have not had a cavity before so im not sure what its supposed to be like.

First I would check with the dentist to rule out a cavity since it%26#039;s better to catch them when their smaller.


Have you tried Sensodyne toothpaste? It works well for reducing the sensativity and the longer you use it the better it works.
Reply:I have used sensitive toothpaste for months on end and never faced a problem. If the tooth is reacting so strongly to cold then you could have a small cavity. Best to get it checked.
Reply:You need to make an apt. with your dentist to have him check this out.....probably with an x-ray. The reason the toothpaste says not to use it longer than 4 weeks is that it can mask problems that need to be addressed. The toothpaste is not making this one tooth more sensitive and it sounds as though there is a cavity there although without seeing it I cannot tell for sure.

Reply:I%26#039;m using the same toothpaste. Are you using Prevident 3000 Sensitivity? I use that. I don%26#039;t use the stuff in the tubes, junk. But, prevident 3000 helps it NOT be sensitive. But, here is a story. Well, /i used prevident a lot, and had 3 cavities that one visit. And then the next visit I had no cavities. The trick was, I never had brushed my teeth everyday. I used Tic-Tacs to refresh my breath. That was kinda sick, i had never brushed my teeth. Now, they are saying when I bit down, one goes behind another. Only 2 teeth. So, now probably braces for me. I went through so much at the dentist. I was numbed for 2 teeth, had about 16 cavitiess all together. So, I should know. A cavitie, has a black particle on it. When you et hot and then cold right away, you will feel a chill. But, if you drink a glass of water, and it bothers you, You have sensitive teeth. Ask your dentist if they have Prevident 3000. That will help. It is in a Pink little bottle, not available any where else besides your dentist. The price is $10 here for me. Expensive. Because its medication. But, if you have Prevident already, use the sensitive. I hope this helps. I gave you lots of info.
