Acne problem...toothpaste?

my skin has has had a major outbreak this week, and i read that if u wash ur face in toothpaste that it works really well, but i dont know what kind of toothpaste to use. i heard the whitening toothpaste causes more acne and that u shouldnt use it, what kind should i use then? (and please dont say the non gel kind, because i have no idea what people mean when they say that) thank you

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that you only use toothpaste as a spot treatment. And, I think it helps with the redness more than anything (I%26#039;ve also heard it works to diminish the red in hickeys). Anyway, if you buy some regular old Pepsident toothpaste, it could work.





FYI - gel toothpaste is usually labeled as gel and is somewhat translucent, vs a non gel toothpaste which is usually solid white. Aquafresh has both, gel and regular, the green is the gel and the white isn%26#039;t.
Reply:see a dermatologist tooshpaste will just try out your face or go to the drugstore and buy some acne wash and drick lots of water
Reply:Actually I%26#039;ve heard of people just dabbing a small spot of toothpaste on a zit, and that by morning, the zit should be gone. I%26#039;ve never heard of washing one%26#039;s face in toothpaste. A co worker of mine tried this and swears it worked for her.

Reply:try mouthwash..like the listerine..just the regular one and use a q tip and dab it on your pimples..i honestly like to just use lava soap when my face breaks out... that soap is awesome !

you can use it to spot treat if you are in a bind. But get some face wash from the drug store. Neutrogena has some good lines with salacylic acid in it. That will help the breakouts.
Reply:Toothpaste can work. My personal favorite home remedy is to wash my face with a mixture of half rubbing alcohol and half lemon juice.
Reply:You use just regular tooth paste( its white paste, gel is blue and also comes in green )...And you don%26#039;t wash your face with it your supposed to put a dab on the zit and then put a bandaid on it overnight...Just look for a regular tooth paste that doesn%26#039;t say gel or whitening, actually the arm and hammer baking soda tooth paste would probaly be a good one....hope this helps

It%26#039;s supposed to be a spot treatment, not a facial.





Dab a bit on the problem pimples, leave on over night, and it should dry out.





If that doesn%26#039;t work, try it again.





I%26#039;ve also heard that putting a dab of deoderant on the problem spot and leaving it on over night helps.
