Cruelty free toothpaste that doesn't taste like BLAH!?!?!?

Okay... so I%26#039;ve spent about $40 on various cruelty free toothpastes and all of them taste like either NOTHING or like some sort of putrid hand lotion or something! I don%26#039;t even care if it%26#039;s vegan... I just want to find one that hasn%26#039;t been tested on animals and doesn%26#039;t contain non-vegetarian animal ingredients. I thought that at least ONE of the national brands would not test on animals... but so far I haven%26#039;t found it. PETA%26#039;s %26quot;compassionate shopper%26quot; list says that Oral B currently has a moratorium on testing (they aren%26#039;t doing it on a temporary basis, hopefully to become permanent), but I%26#039;ve not been able to find ADULT toothpaste from them... just kids stuff (that%26#039;s like berry flavored, or bubblegum flavored). I just want a normal, mint type toothpaste that actually makes my mouth feel like I just brushed it. Am I on a wild goosechase???

Cruelty free toothpaste that doesn%26#039;t taste like BLAH!?!?!?
Dailest%26#039;s answer is inaccurate -- all toothpastes are not cruelty free -- far from it!

I like Tom%26#039;s of Maine toothpaste in peppermint -- I also tried the spearmint flavor but didn%26#039;t like it. But I really like the peppermint. If you%26#039;ve already tried Tom%26#039;s in a flavor other than peppermint and didn%26#039;t like it, I%26#039;d recommend trying the peppermint, you might find it less objectionable.

Tom%26#039;s is cruelty free, although the company was recently purchased by Colgate, which is not cruelty free. However, Colgate has agreed to maintain the cruelty free policy when it comes to all Tom%26#039;s branded products, so they are %26quot;safe.%26quot; Some people believe, and I respect this opinion, that even if Tom%26#039;s brand products are cruelty free, you still shouldn%26#039;t buy them since its parent company (colgate) does test its other products on animals. My personal feeling is that it is ok to buy Tom%26#039;s (and other cruelty free products that are produced by parent companies that are not cruelty free, such as body shop which is now owned by Loreal) because you%26#039;re still not supporting testing and you%26#039;re sending a message to the parent company with every purchase that you will only buy cruelty free. But that%26#039;s an issue you%26#039;ll have to consider for yourself.
Reply:It%26#039;s called %26quot;Dital Dentie%26quot; by a company called Argital. I%26#039;m currently using one with Propolis and Mint with charcoal and sea salt (it%26#039;s black toothpaste - no joke).

E-mail argital@tin.it for a brochure of their toothpastes.
Reply:I am using %26quot;Nature%26#039;s Gate%26quot; brand right now and it is perfectly minty. They are a huge brand when it comes to cruelty-free hygiene products. I think you%26#039;ll like it. I think the %26quot;Jason%26quot; brand also has some, but I%26#039;ve never tried it. Good luck.
Reply:Have you tried Toms of Maine. I have been using it for years and I won%26#039;t use anything else. I love their winter mint and apricot. Both taste very good. Their cinnimon and cloves flavor is pretty spicey though. It works great too. My doctor noticed the switch and told me it appeared to strengthen my gums better and reduced plaque in the gum line.
Reply:Neem toothpaste from India is totally vegetarian and tastes good and makes my mouth feel fresh. It is available in many health food stores. Another brand is Miswak toothpaste, also from India.

Some other options that I like are Nature%26#039;s Gate Toothpaste with Anise Oil. If you don%26#039;t like anise flavour you can try another flavour or Toms of Maine has many flavours which will make your mouth feel fresh. Both Nature%26#039;s Gate and Toms of Maine do not test on animals and contain no animal products.
Reply:What about Tom%26#039;s of Maine? According to PETA, the toothpaste is still cruelty-free: http://www.caringconsumer.com/cosmetics_...
Reply:I used to use Tom%26#039;s of Maine until Colgate-Palmolive bought them. Tom%26#039;s will continue its policy of no animal testing, but C-P does engage in animal testing, so Tom%26#039;s is a no-go. Nature%26#039;s Gate and JASON make pretty good toothpastes. I%26#039;m using the Nature%26#039;s Gate Cherry flavor, but I%26#039;ll probably go back to the mint because the cherry is too sweet for me (would be great for those of you who have kids, though!).
Reply:Newco Natural Body Care makes quite a few different flavours of toothpaste that are cruelty free. The fennel, peppermint, spearmint, cinnamon %26amp; kiwi-lime are my favourites.
Reply:You don%26#039;t mention the various brands you%26#039;ve tried other than Oral B, so I don%26#039;t know if you%26#039;ve tried Tom%26#039;s of Maine (which comes in several nice flavors %26amp; formulas) or Jason%26#039;s, which is what I currently use (also several nice flavors %26amp; formulas). There are lots of other cruelty-free brands but the above are the 2 that I%26#039;m most familiar with as they%26#039;re the easiest to find in large supermarkets around here.

Keep looking-- I%26#039;m sure you%26#039;ll find @ least 1 cruelty-free toothpaste that makes you smile.
Reply:Nature%26#039;s Gate, and a lot of the other brands mentioned here, are available at drugstore.com. If you are comfortable with them, I like getting many vegan/vegetarian toiletries there. They even have vegetarian vitamins etc. You can also get money back depending on how much you spend. I am not pushing them, (or have stock in them or anything :P) I am just saying--its a decent place if you don%26#039;t have a variety of cruelty-free choices in your area.
Reply:All toothpastes are cruelty free.
