Toothpaste on car window scratch?

is it true toothpaste can be used to lighten up light scratches on a car windscreen? i%26#039;ve heard it works...is there any specific toothpaste, technique etc?


i hate the scratch, right in the way of driver%26#039;s side.

Polishing with toothpaste will work on slight scratches as it is an abrasive and when rubbed in wears the surrounding area down to the level of the scratch without scratching the area in itself.


Jewellers rouge works on the same principle.


On the other hand, most of the windscreen repairers do it professionally for you - but it all works on the same principle of mild abrasion.

You can try a product called rain-x, what it does is fills in the edged out parts of your windshield to make it smooth, and repels rain. But I%26#039;ve used it on my car and it makes my chips and scratches less noticable. Not by much but helps.
