Any toothpaste, mouthwash, that will dissolve, remove, get rid of plaque, tartar on teeth?

Is there any type of toothpaste, mouthwash or anything else that will dissolve or remove or get rid of tartar or plaque on teeth since we used to buy a certain brand of toothpaste in the 60%26#039;s and 70%26#039;s that actually seemed to remove it, as you brushed, chunks of it would fall off and into the sink and now it seems like there is no toothpaste that really works, and I can%26#039;t remember the name of the toothpaste we used to get. Does anyone remember what kind it was and if they still make it and where you can buy it? Or is there some sort of mixture you could make at home and rinse with that would loosen it, like baking soda, or peroxide, or salt, or vinegar or anything like that?

u r absolutely right, therefore I brush my teeth with salt once or 2 times a week it all depends of what i have been eating that week.now my teeth r whiter %26amp; i got no more problem with tartar
Reply:i like crest alcohol free whitening because it doesnt burn my mouth.

i wasnt around in the 60%26#039;s or 70%26#039;s so im not sure about that one.
Reply:any whitening toothpaste I have used gets rid of all that
Reply:I dont know the name of it sorry b4 my time. But my mom sometimes mixes baking soda and peroxide together. Otherwise the crest pro health is good (clean mint is the best flavor) and scope or listerine mouthwash. You could just go to the dentist and get the plaque build up removed and then brush with anything u want...just a suggestion
Reply:listerine mouthwash. this is a good lesson though, if you brush your teeth instead of wasting time for 50 years, you wouldn%26#039;t need to get rid of plaque!
Reply:A sonicare tooth brush is your best bet to help remove build up on your teeth...you can also rinse your toothbrush in the peroxide dip into the baking soda, add a spot of regular toothpaste and brush for 2 minutes. Good luck!
Reply:I was just at the dentist today, and I was watching an informational closed circuit thing about dental health. It said that tartar can only be removed professionally.

Plaque is the pasty substance caused by food and bacteria, which forms constantly on your teeth. That is easily removable while it is still plaque by brushing, flossing, etc. Some of the OralB and SonicCare electric rechargeable toothbrushes do a fantatic job. I can tell a big difference myself since I started using one a few years ago.

Tartar is plaque that has hardened. This has to be removed by your dentist. Plaque can harden and turn to tartar in as little as 24 hours. The informational video compared it to coral, and reiterated that it could not be removed by brushing at that point, particularly because it%26#039;s not just above your gum line, but also below--which is why daily at home care is so critical.

So, are you saying you think you let the plaque form on your teeth for such a long time that it hardened and you had BIG CHUNKS of it? Hard to believe, and even so, I%26#039;m really questioning if that was tartar that fell off in big chunks into the sink. Don%26#039;t know what was wrong with your mouth, but YIKES!
