Colgate toothpaste with children?

I have a little brother who won%26#039;t brush his teeth because he said the toothpaste hurts/burns his gums, so my friend asked if he would try some of her little brothers toothpaste which was 2 in 1 toothpaste and mouthwash kids colgate. He wouldn%26#039;t try it because he was sure it would hurt his gums and I am still tring to get him to use it, so if anyone would give me any ideas on what might get him to use it that would be very helpful.

Colgate toothpaste with children?
Let him take a very small taste of the toothpaste on his tongue. Once he%26#039;s allowed you to do this, place a small amount on his gums and let him see that it doesn%26#039;t burn before trying to get him to brush with it. I%26#039;m not sure if the one you%26#039;re talking about is bubble-gum flavored, but many of the kid%26#039;s toothpastes are. Explain to him that it doesn%26#039;t have the mint in it, and that%26#039;s what usually causes the stinging. Also, make sure he has a very soft toothbrush - maybe one with his favorite superhero on it. Also, you can buy kids toothpaste with superheroes on it too. It may take some time, but keep working on it.
Reply:my guess is its not the toothpaste its the brush, get him a very soft brush, it usually sais it on the pach whether its soft medium or hard, if that doent work get him something like sensodyne( a specail toothpast for sensitive teeth and gums) (availible in the u.k and ireland!)

if that still doesnt work bring him to the dentist/doctor or csll the dentist/doctor

good luck!

good luck!
Reply:he could watch u do it that way he knows it does not hurt.
Reply:maybe u could buy a colgate thats not too hot and has flavor that kids like or find out whats the reason hes not brushing his teeth!

^_^(hope this helps)
Reply:Maybe it isn%26#039;t the toothpaste but the toothbrush. Try to get a soft bristle toothbrush...then just have him brush with water. The toothpaste really acts like a little abrassive. And if he just doesn%26#039;t like toothpaste then talk to you dentist and make sure that he is getting enough flouride since he%26#039;s not wanting to use toothpaste. He may need a flouide tablet once a day..Good luck
Reply:Take him to the store and let him buy his own colgate, they have bubble gum flavor and grape, cherry and a variety, make it fun for him and if HE buys it himself he may very well use it! Also you may let him buy his own toothbrush with his favorite character on it- Give him interest- and he will try it!
