Toothpaste on scratched ps2 disks?

I have 2 scratched Sims games, and I decided I want to %26#039;fix%26#039; them. I%26#039;ve seen videos that toothpaste helps, but I also don%26#039;t want to damage my games even more.

if the toothpaste does work, what kind should I use? and how do I apply/take it off?

Toothpaste on scratched ps2 disks?
well, personally. I use soap to clean my disks when there dirty. a lil soap (liquid) and water cleans stuff right of (no tto much) because toothpast will be WAY to hard to take of without scratching the disk more. So I dont thnk its a good idea.
Reply:put the toothpaste on the disk then spread it over the disk with a Q tip to spred the toothpaste over the disk when your done doing that use toliet paper to clean it up works every time
Reply:Toothpaste is a great way to fix a scratched disc. Be sure to use a white paste-type toothpaste--not the gel kind. Also, be sure your toothpaste has no kind of crystals in it.

Now, take a tissue--not cotton balls, or any ind of rough cloth-and wipe the disc from the center out to the edge with the toothpaste.. Do this all the way around the disc. Let it sit for a minute or two and with a clean tissue rub again from the center to the edge all the way around the disc.

Now use a tissue with a little regular rubbing alcohol and clean from the center outward all the way around to remove any residue that might remain.

This works most of the time--unless the disc is really damaged.
