What kind of toothpaste do you use for your dog?

What kind of toothpaste do you use for your dog?

my yorkie...Petey http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c229/m...

always hates %26quot;toothbrushing%26quot; time... i believe its because of the taste of his toothpaste...its regular mint...at first he liked it and now...he tries to avoid it at all costs...

what kind of tooth paste do you use for your dogs? do they like it?

what is your process to brushing your dogs teeth?

just for your information: the toothpaste i use is for DOGS...its mint flavor

the toothpaste i bought my dog at a PETSTORE...not human toothpaste! also came with one of those finger toothbrushes and a regular toothbrush...

What kind of toothpaste do you use for your dog?
I brush my dog%26#039;s teeth with Petrodex Natural Toothpaste, peanut butter flavored =]. My dog loves it! He always looks forward to getting his teeth brushed because of the toothpaste, but once we get into the process of actually doing it he hates it! I got it from Petsmart, and it also came with a finger toothbrush and a regular dog toothbrush. Maybe you would want to consider it.

To brush my dog%26#039;s teeth, I have him lay on my lap. Then I lift his upper lip and brush his teeth in a circular motion. I do the same thing on the other side, and then again on the bottom teeth. When his mouth starts to open a little, I brush back at the back teeth. At the end of the procedure, I rub his ears, tell him he%26#039;s a good boy, kiss his nose, and let him be free!
Reply:I use an all-natural toothpaste that is peanut flavored. My dog loves it! The brand is Petrodex.
Reply:I use Peanut Butter flavored DOG toothpaste also.

It%26#039;s SO difficult with my dog..he jaws are so powerful, she clamps down on my hand and won%26#039;t open her mouth. She HATES teeth brushing but is SO tolerant of it.

I think the brand I use is Cain %26amp; Able..
Reply:Always use a specially formulated dog toothpaste. Because dogs can%26#039;t rinse and spit after a brushing, the dog toothpaste must be safe for pets to swallow! Some human toothpastes contain detergents which can irritate pets%26#039; stomachs, and, in addition, large quantities of ingested fluoride can harm pets.
Reply:try getting beef flavor toothpaste for your dog.
Reply:you can get one that taste of beef try your local pet store or vets
Reply:I use Petrodex Enzymatic Toothpaste for dogs. I usually buy the Beef flavor, but my groomer says that he also likes Chicken.
Reply:Sounds like it is not the toothpaste that he dislikes but it is the process of brushing. You could try to give him rawhides once in awhile so you don%26#039;t have to brush as frequently or a Greenie. I know many people are against rawhide or greenies, but Trader Joes sells some all-American ones that are great with my dog. You could try to turn the experience into a more positive one by offering him a special treat and lots of praise when he/she is done:-) hopefully this helps...
Reply:My dog likes chianti flavored toothpaste. It also has a therapeutic effect as well.........
Reply:i use the beef flavored tooth paste. try that one. he may like it.
Reply:i scale their teeth once every week or so.- as needed. mainly the back ones on top that get yukky..

good habit to get into... i don%26#039;t think brushing them does any good
Reply:I buy my pets toothpaste from the vet. It%26#039;s a better quality than the ones that are in the shops. It%26#039;s not mint flavoured - I can%26#039;t imagine any pet liking mint (lol) - it%26#039;s just a pleasant taste. Ask the vet what he would recommend.
Reply:I use Enzadent - it is supposed to taste like peanut butter. I use a finger toothbrush. They like it. They sit up real proud and seem to think I am just rubbing peanut butter around in their mouths for them! I only do each dog about once a week, but they always have good dental checkups. They also get Nylabone chewbones - the hard kind that are meant only for chewing, not the edible kinds.
