Is toothpaste with baking soda/peroxide better for whitening than regular toothpaste?

I%26#039;m just curious. I see/hear people saying a lot that baking soda and/or peroxide can help whiten your teeth. I tried both, and honestly didn%26#039;t like it, so I bought a toothpaste with both in it. So is it any better for your teeth than a regular anti-cavity toothpaste, or did I spend the extra money for nothing? Thanks!

people say it does...but i personally just use regular...but sometimes i use it.
Reply:I believe it does make a difference. I love Arm %26amp; Hammer gel. My teeth are very white and people comment on how white my teeth are all the time. Give it a try, it certainly can%26#039;t hurt. (But you won%26#039;t notice a difference in 2 or 3 days, but after you use 1 or 2 tubes you probably will or others will notice.)
Reply:I am not that sure, but yes, I do think that the one with toothpaste and baking soda is good.
Reply:Baking soda adds a good abrasive to brushing to help remove surface stains while peroxide also has good whitening properties. However, using straight baking soda and peroxide daily is not a good idea b/c baking soda is a little more abrasive than traditional whitening toothpastes. This can cause a little too much abrasion/wear on teeth. Using this occasionally would probably be OK though.
Reply:you spent the extra money for no reason. tooth paste is tooth paste. its all going to do the same. and it all has baking soda in it. and puroxide. its all going to do the same. and it also depends on how much u brush your teeth a day.

personally, i think the regular tooth paste is just as good. thats what my dentist told me.

try asking your dentist next time you go.
