Is herbal toothpaste(toothpaste created using only natural ingrediants) as good as regular toothpaste?

Ive been thinking about swapping to herbal toothpaste because ive read and heard a lot of negative things about regular toothpaste i.e. toothpaste made with chemicals and has flouride added. But im worried that herbal toothpaste wont do the job, I mean they dont have flouride added to them which strengthens teeth.

So which is better, herbal or regular?

Thanks

I%26#039;m a little confused. You%26#039;re cautious of conventional toothpastes because it contains fluoride, but yet, you%26#039;re worried that since herbal toothpastes don%26#039;t contain fluoride, that they might not be as good. I think you gotta make up your mind, do you want fluoride or not?

As far as removing plaque and cleaning the teeth themselves, some dentists have actually told me that brushing your teeth with toothpaste is really no more effective at removing plaque than just a toothbrush with water. And that the main purpose of using toothpaste is to get fluoride onto the teeth.

So assuming that that is true, then as far as removing plaque, I don%26#039;t see why an all natural toothpaste wouldn%26#039;t be as effective as conventional toothpaste. However, I haven%26#039;t exactly jumped onto the bandwagon of fluoride being bad... so I would be worry that you%26#039;d be missing out on the protective fluoride if you went with a fluoride-free formula.

Another thing, as a chemist, I get a little fed up with these %26quot;organic movement promoters%26quot; always saying the products we use have %26quot;chemicals%26quot; in them, and therefore, are harmful. Everything has %26quot;chemicals%26quot; whether they are natural or synthetic.
Reply:There is no known problems related to herbal toothpastes, they are ok, toothpastes are fine as long as you don%26#039;t swallow the paste or even worse eat it the thing is there is flouride everywhere not only in your toothpaste but it is in tap water too, so whatever you do you use you will still have flouride, if you are worried i would speak to your dentist.
