Ok so once I had a zit and I put Clearasil on it and all it did was dry it out and it didn%26#039;t go away. So the next day I put Toothpaste on it and when I woke up the next morning it looked like a burn mark! So I was wondering if it was the toothpaste alone that burned my skin or was it because the zit was already dried out and the toothpaste made it dry out even more.
I wanted to know because I have this Ginormous zit right on my nose! and Everyone is telling me that toothpaste really works. The one on my nose isn%26#039;t dried up at all because I haven%26#039;t really put anything on it , but I really need to get rid of it...it%26#039;s really big and I%26#039;m not exxaggerating!
Please help me! I%26#039;m on my hands and knees here!
Should I use toothpaste on it or not?
Toothpaste Question?
I had acne for the majority of my teenage life, and I learned a ton about it through the process. My mother is also an Esthetician or however you spell it. Anyways, your skin may be reacting to chemicals in the toothpaste badly, or it may just be the zit, its rather hard to tell without actually seeing it. At any rate, toothpase does work as it has chemicals in it that are also part of the chemicals in common anti-acne products. However, more often than not, it is better if not just result wise, but skin-health wise to opt for actual anti-acne cream or facial wash. Get that instead. Toothpaste is not the best option even if people suggest it and it works.
Also, if its a whitehead, do not pop it unless its with hot water (from a rag or in the shower). Otherwise it will spread acne. Blackheads are safe to pop and you should do so when you see them.
Best of luck.
I can%26#039;t really suggest a cream or wash for you as every acne type is dif. per person, so some would work for me that wouldn%26#039;t for you, etc. Just go to walgreens and pick something up. Get a WASH and then a cream to put on after. You should be set.
Reply:use toothpaste.
the chemicals in toothpaste have some sort of thing that magically cures everything!
whats to lose?
if it dries up use coverup!
Reply:No! depending on the brand, your face could be allergic. Use Neutrogena blackhead scrub and cleanser. They are very mild and work the best on any skin tone to unblock and cleanse pores of all that hidden daily dirt and grime...
Reply:i think its because the to chemicals were mixed. i used toothpaste once, it didnt do anything. their not going to go away over night. no matter what you use. they are just going to run their course.
Reply:toothpaste does feel like it burns but when i try and wake up the next day my pimples are just smaller and my face burns until i wash it off.....try mixing water and salt and applying it to the pimple with a cotton swab
Reply:use the toothpaste
Reply:NOO...GOSH NOO!!!
here is the deal with toothpaste...it dries out the zit but it doesn%26#039;t actually help get rid of it. i read it in a health magazine...toothpaste does not work - and you%26#039;ve already had a bad experience with it? I dont recommend you try it again.
Ive had zits too...and i knowit seems big but no one will notice unless you bring attention to it...if you dont believe me then i suggest just put some tru blend founation on it...but wait for the zit to go away on its own....natural is the best way to go when in doubt:)
Reply:It%26#039;s most likely the toothpaste. I had the same problem when I put colgate on my zit overnight. Ouch my face was a burned mess. You should only dab a small amount for a short period like 10 mins, similar to a mud mask. Anything beyond that it%26#039;ll burn your skin! Make sure you put on a healing cream like neosporin to help your skin heal and try not to put anything else on it. For big zits, try a sulfur based spot treatment overnight - Murad has one that%26#039;s great - if benzoyl peroxide treatments like Clearasil don%26#039;t work.
Reply:i was told that too, i have tried it plenty of times and it has neva made a difference. wat i use is Rapid Action Treatment Cream by clearasil, have a look on their sight for ideas
Reply:That burn mark isn%26#039;t from the toothpaste. It%26#039;s an acne scar. Whether you popped your zit or not there will be scarring b/c the bacteria lived inside that pore after you apply medication to kill it off there is a hole where it was. That%26#039;s the scar.
Toothpaste or acne medicine dries out the area and kills the bacteria so it%26#039;s not harming your skin. You zit will dry out and leave a scar, that%26#039;s how acne works. You can cover it with foundation afterwards so it wouldn%26#039;t be as noticable as it heals.
