Does toothpaste really remove CD scratches?

I%26#039;ve heard from several people, in different time, that if you srub a CD scratch with toothpaste, it gets rid of it. I haven%26#039;t heard that this doesn%26#039;t work, and if anyone has tried and failed, I%26#039;d like to know. There is a pretty big scratch on my Sims 2 CD and I don%26#039;t want to try the toothpaste and make matters worse. Thank you!

Does toothpaste really remove CD scratches?
Well it dosen%26#039;t make it worse

but I think it depends on the

toothpaste and im not sure which

one to use but I would think that

crest orignal would be the best so just give

it a try.
Reply:only with combination of grindig tool..
Reply:probuably not could ruin cd player

just get an ipod
Reply:no buy scratch doctor. it restores cds or dvds
Reply:i dont know why dont u try it on a blank cd or on a diffrent cd
Reply:No, it MAKES DVD scratches!
Reply:Tooth paste is an abrasive, it may work but i would not try it on a good CD, try it on a dead one first.
Reply:This is just a Myth, but there is a 86% chance that it will work without ruining your CD. Note: If you do it only use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste and do not use Toothpaste with whitener. i hope this answers your question.
Reply:Why take the chance. Most large video stores (Hastings, Blockbuster, etc.) have a machine that will buff Cd%26#039;s. They usually charge a dollar or two.
Reply:I haven%26#039;t heard this one before. I wouldn%26#039;t try it personally because common sense would be to think what toothpaste does, it cleans your teeth by abrasion. Some toothpaste has bicarbonate of soda in it which would scrath the disc even more. There is a process where the scratched top layer of the disc can be removed but don%26#039;t try doing this yourself, take it to a specialist store.
Reply:Maxis will replace the cd for like $8 if your warranty ran out. If your game is still under warranty then you can get a new one free. You can find out how on their website.
