I have been using Mentadent for a few years now. However, my intuition%26#039;s telling me that possibly I should switch to another product, such as Colgate. Even though I floss and brush twice (sometimes 3 times a day.. depending on what I ate), I feel Mentadent is not doing the %26#039;job%26#039; on my teeth, hence I noticed a cavity forming in my back molar. So my question is.. which toothpaste do YOU think is better?
Toothpaste Dilemma.?
As long as the toothpaste contains fluoride then it is a good toothpaste. Mentadent is not your problem. You need to brush for 2 minutes everytime and floss once every day. Also try using an over the counter fluoride rinse every night after brushing, before bed to prevent cavities. Many things cause cavities most likely your diet, how soon you brush after eating, how often you brush, and sometimes cavities occur because when your teeth formed little spaces were left open, making them more prone to cavities.
The best thing to do is buy ACT (or store brand) fluoride rinse and use before bedtime. Follow the directions. Your tooth may remineralize and the cavity may go away if it is not large. Also try buying xylitol gum/mints/breath spray from your dentist%26#039;s office and use after eating to prevent cavities. Have your dentist evaluate your teeth to see if you really have a cavity or if it is just a stain. A dental hygienist thought I had a cavity forming and after she used %26quot;diagnodent%26quot; she was wrong and it was just a stain. Diagnodent is a specialized instrument that can detect cavities that may not even be visible.
Reply:I like Mentadent too, but it%26#039;s way too expensive....
I use Colgate Total.
Reply:never use bi carb as its disgusting
Reply:NONE of them. Look at the ingredient and do some research, you wont believe what kind of POISON stuff are in it. Instead, go to a Health Food Store, I personally use JASON Pure, Natural, Organic Toothpaste.
Reply:I use Colgate! It has a grat protection against cavities/bad breath..and so on. I would definately switch toothpaste%26#039;s to whichever one you prefer, and/or whichever one you would think could do the job!!
Reply:Any toothpaste that has the required level of sodium flouride would be good enough. There is no point spending alot of money on expensive toothpastes.
Cavities form due mostly to poor diet(sugary diet such sweets, chocolate and biscuits) . Frequency of consumption as well. Maintain your current levels of oral hygiene and have a good diet and you should be ok. But first of all if you think there is a cavity please go see a dentist first.
Reply:I would ask your dentist. He or she knows best. I use Aquafresh Kid%26#039;s because it taste good. But it does not really help bad breath! I also like this one: Colgate MaxFresh it has breath strips in it that helps the bad breath smell and has plenty of flouride to help prevent cavities. I hope this helps.

Reply:thats really weird. you should have rinsed ur hair with cold water first. just keep washing it
Reply:are you sure it%26#039;s toothpaste and not gum? Toothpaste isn%26#039;t really hard to get out at all, especially with water.
Reply:ohh yes always fun at those sleepovers..except when your the one to fall asleep ;p..i would try useing dish washing liquid...i know its sounds crazy..but it can manage to get alot of things out of your hair!
Reply:take a longer shower, rub your hair while it is in the water, it will come out.
Reply:Take a shower with hot water and use alot of shampoo

Can i use a whitening toothpaste if i have braces?
I never thought much of it. Now im reading all kinds of stuff about how if you have braces you shouldnt use a whitening toothpaste. I drink coffee occasionally though. Whats the deal? Is it okay? Did anyone else use whitening while they had braces? Whats the best kind of toothpaste? Also, anyone here use natural toothpastes and ever have a problem with decay?
Can i use a whitening toothpaste if i have braces?
yes, its perfectly ok. i asked my dentist what the best kind of toothpaste is for braces and he reccomended crest pro health. it is sensitive enough where it doesnt burn your mouth, and it helps keep your teeth white.
Reply:I have braces and I use a whitening toothpaste every day. I use Crest lemon flavor. I also use Pearl Drops after coffee which is a polishing whitening toothpase. I think it%26#039;s okay to use after staining drinks. I don%26#039;t think whitening toothpaste works other than removing current stains. After you get them off you%26#039;ll have to Zoom whiten to even out the colors.
Reply:I have never heard of not using whitening paste with braces, it just has baking soda and bleach in it, neither of which affect the metal but may affect the adhesive but I dont think it does. I use Toms natural whitening paste. You have to adjust to the taste but it gest better. I havent had any problems with tooth decay.
Reply:your not supposed to because of whiting but i do anyways and nothing happens to me!
Reply:I%26#039;m not sure I%26#039;d recommend it just because i%26#039;d imagine the day when you%26#039;re braces come off and part of your tooth is white and the other part is a bit off color. Of course, I suppose they%26#039;d polish your teeth and it would all even out.
Reply:No a whitening toothpaste does not cause something bad while you have braces. Toothpaste is actually for whitening purpose right, so the time you brush your teeth you need toothpaste and the good brand should be Maximum Teeth Whitening.

Toothpaste to zap zits?
A friend of mine swears up and down that toothpaste gets rid of ance but I can%26#039;t really see a reason why it would. Am I missing something and does it work? If so why?
Toothpaste to zap zits?
I have tried it, because I know people who swear by it, and it didn%26#039;t help me. I use a face wash with benzoyl peroxide in it and that works for me. But, you know, different skin, different things work.
Reply:I think it draws out the oil, therefore drying up the zit and making it disappear. I%26#039;ve never tried it though.
Reply:Yah I don%26#039;t know how but it works, I used it and it worked! ZAP!! HA!HA!

Toothpaste problem?
I use Original Colgate. It burns really bad and doesn%26#039;t do much for the whiteness and brightness of my teeth. Toothpaste reccomendations? Inexpensive whitening reccomendations? Thanks!
Toothpaste problem?
Try switching to the Colgate Total with Whitening. It is on sale pretty often at the grocery store and there are usually coupons available so that it will only cost around $2 at the most. Try using the gel form instead of the paste to see if it%26#039;s less astringent (it will burn less). Also consider using one of the toothpastes designed for sensitive teeth -- some of them are now formulated to include whitening agents. Finally, you can follow brushing with one of the new whitening rinses. If you are experiencing unusual burning, you might want to go to your dentist to rule out the possibility that you have any other issues with your gums that could be addressed by him/her.
Reply:theres colegate whitening...that helps me....macleans remineralise...that really did work wonders for me!!!
Reply:In my experience, very few toothpastes actually whiten your teeth, though many claim to.
I use White Strips to whiten my teeth, they work pretty well for the price.
Reply:Try Crest cooling mint. Its nice! Or Mentadent!
Reply:When you go to buy toothpaste look for an ADA symbol on the box. That means that the toothpaste is recognized by the American Dental Association....this means the toothpaste does what it says it does. Try crest toothpaste...it works great for me. I don%26#039;t bleach my teeth but Crest White Strips work great for the girls at work. They are pretty inexpensive. Good luck!

TOOTHpaste zits?
what kind of toothpaste are you supposed to put on zits?
TOOTHpaste zits?
Paste, not gel. Besides that, doesn%26#039;t matter. It draws the moisture out. Make sure to wash it off before you go out anywhere though. :)
Reply:Tea tree oil is better

Toothpaste to spot?
i tried the famous toothpaste on spot overnight trick last night, it did nout, just made it bigger and red, does anyone know if sweating on your face increases spot size becuase i also went running last night. Does anyone have any tips of how to get rid of this big *** spot then overnight again, well by tomorrow afternoon at least.
Toothpaste to spot?
Get some sort of over-the-counter acne treatment, anything with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide is good. Put a BIG dollop on it, and let it dry until it forms a crust on the blemish.
Sometimes toothpaste does not work unless it%26#039;s the old-fashioned paste-paste kind. Whitening toothpastes, any sort of %26quot;clear%26quot; looking toothpaste generally won%26#039;t work.
I agree with hot compresses. I don%26#039;t think sweat would do anything to exacerbate the blemish. Just make sure you wash your face and use an astringent after running before you apply any sort of medication.
If the spot is still there tomorrow, you can try using ice to take away some of the redness.
Good luck!
Reply:Try Persagel by Clean and Clear and use warm compresses
Reply:Toothpaste doesn%26#039;t work. I don%26#039;t know anything you can just go out and by that will get rid of it that quickly if you haven%26#039;t been using it for a while. I use proactive but I%26#039;ve been using it forever lol.
Reply:yes after you sweat you should wash your face, becasue the sweat can get stuck in your pores. But the tooth paste thing always works for me...but clean and clear makes a product that also works for me too, you should try that.
Reply:The products you are using, are they Salsylic Acid or Benzoyl peroxide? BP can be VERY drying. I personally like SA better. Salsylic acid it really good. It is in almost all acne washes. Benzoyl Peroxide is too drying for me! Try finding a face lotion with SA in it. Clean and Clear has a good moisturizer with SA and it helps keep pimples at bay. It is only about $5 a bottle and lasts about 2 months and you can get it at your local store. I have used this in the past and it works well. Personally, I use Biore products (which you get over the counter. Their products range from $5-$10). They are harsh on pimples, but not on your face.
Personally, Proactive didn%26#039;t work for me. I have been using Biore products for over a year and I hardly ever break out! Occasionally I will get one or two, but nothing bad. I use Biore Ice Cleanser for acne and Biore warming facial scrub every morning for blackheads (This stuff works. I notcied a DRASTIC diffrence in my blackeads being GONE within 2 weeks) . And then 3-4 day s a week I use Biore purging pore cream scrub. For body acne I use Neutrogena acne body wash I never break out on my body. It gets 110 in summer so sweat in inevitably, yet I never break out. Give it a try. All of it is cheap too. About $5-10 depending on what you buy! Salsylic acid it really good. It is in almost all acne washes. Benzoyl Peroxide is too drying for me! I think you will just need to experiment with products until you find what works for you. Remember, it can take 1 month for products to fully begin working! Good Luck!
